  • Managed talent pool for the largest comic book publisher in the world.

  • Acted as "crisis manager" for comic book publishing line, 80-100 titles monthly, identified late publications, and developed and implemented plans to get them back on schedule.

  • Acted as liaison between dozens of freelance creators and editorial staff, coordinated scheduling and effective deployment.

  • Evaluated new talent and developed them into future assets to company.
    Maintained "Big Picture" view for Senior Vice President, identified inefficiencies in overall publishing workflow and developed and tested solutions for them.
    Implemented budget parameters across a line of 80-100 monthly titles


Harris Comics

Director of Publishing & Editorial (Jan 2006 - Oct 2009)

  • Oversaw comic book production from conception to publication, including plotting, assembling creative teams, maintaining quality control and schedule.

  • Coordinated logistics among distributors, printers and comic book shops.
    Created licensing strategy, merchandising style guide and social media outreach program.

  • Negotiated licensing deal with Sideshow Collectibles.

  • Acted as company representative and talent scout at major trade shows

  • Planned and implemented marketing strategies targeting 500 retail stores, utilizing phonebanking and direct mailings.

In 2020, appeared in San Diego Comic-Con’s “Breaking into Comics and Staying In!” panel with Sanford Greene (Bitter Root, Iron Fist) and Andy Schmidt (Publisher & President, CEX Publishing). “You're willing to do the work, but the world of comics is tough to crack into; join these pros as they break down the walls and offer practical advice that will jumpstart your career!”


In 2021, appeared again and moderated San Diego Comic-Con’s “Breaking into Comics and Staying In” panel with Kyle Higgins (Radiant Black), Marissa Louise (DC colorist), and Paul Allor (Hollow Heart).


Your Guide to the Perfect Portfolio Review

A lot of artists treat these portfolio reviews like they are pass/fail. Worse, many artists treat them like being selected means they’ve won the lottery. This is not a competition. This is not a lottery. This is not the moment your life will change.

THIS IS A SNAPSHOT of where you are as an artist, at this time – Nothing more and nothing less. My most common advice at portfolio reviews involves telling an artist where I think they are in their development and how much further they need to go to catch the attentions of editors. I aim to be as practical as possible so the artists walk away with concrete points to address and concrete next steps to take. Timing is everything here and the best you can do, no matter how talented, is put yourself in position to take advantage when that perfect marriage of luck and opportunity arrives for you.
